myDMV FAQ
It is a user account that will allow you to use certain DMV Online Services that require more stringent user authentication. Having a MyDMV account will allow you to do more things online as more services are added in the future.
Customers can update their Next of Kin/Emergency Contacts, Purchase a Driving Record, and update Vehicle Registration Address and Color with a MyDMV account.
A Delaware Drivers License or State ID, your date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number. A valid email address is also required in order to receive the account activation email and activate your account.
Customers must activate their user account via an email sent to the email address provided at the time of account creation.
If you do not receive your activation email within 72 hours of creating your account, please send your user name and email address to dmvcustomerservice@state.de.us.
You will still be able to use the Online Services that do not require a MyDMV account such as Vanity Plate Search and Reserve, Order a Special Plate, Registration Renewal Notification, and Handicap Placard.
No, not at this time. Only those with a Delaware drivers license or Delaware issue Identification card can sign up for a MyDMV account.
You can "Opt Out of DMV online services" online or in person at any DMV branch location. In order to opt out online, a MyDMV account must be created and activated and upon logging in, customers may check the box to disable access to your DMV Online Services account. Customers can only opt back in with a photo ID in person at any DMV branch location.
Customers must activate their account within 30 days. After 30 days the account activation email will no longer work. If the customer attempts to activate the account with the expired account activation link, they will be required to submit their driver's license or ID, date of birth, and last four of the Social Security Number again. Another account activation email will be sent. Upon activation, customer will be able to log in with the original username and password provided.
Customers can recover their username or password by providing the driver's license or ID, date of birth, and last four of the Social Security Number. Customers will be given the option to verify the email address associated with the MyDMV account. An email containing either the username or the new password will be sent to the email address associated to MyDMV account. (Passwords will be reset.).
If customer has setup Security Questions, then another option will be given to answer security questions and view/change email address associated to MyDMV account. An email will be sent to the email address provided containing either the username or the new password.(Passwords will be reset.)
