Pressure Test

CAP PRESSURE TEST

The Division of Motor Vehicle associate may test your vehicle to detect any leakage of fuel vapors from the fuel system. This test performs is performed on 1975 – 1995 gasoline-powered vehicles with a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of 8,500 pounds or less in all three counties. The test requires your vehicle to have a fuel cap to be accessible and open.

The test will determine if your vehicle’s fuel cap is working efficiently and will detect any leaks in your gas tank or hoses from the tank to your vehicle’s engine compartment. Fuel or fuel vapor leaks and being a significant safety hazard are among the major contributing factors to Delaware’s air quality problems.
